Relocation to Safe Neighborhood

In July my kids and I move from our neighborhood where our neighbors were threatening snd abusive, to move to a home where we could feel safe around out neighbors, but I never would have expected what was going to happen after a month and a half of living there.

Friday 9/2, my family and I heard gun shots all night, but I just got up, made sure my doors were locked and windows shut, then went back to sleep. The next morning I hopped onto my computer to work, when my son came into my room with my daughter looking scared. He told me there were bullet holes in our window that shot through the wall, across the hallway, and into the kids bathroom. My daughter was asleep on the couch right under where the bullets entered the house and still slept through the whole thing even though she was covered in shattered glass. I felt like it was an isolated incident, so the kids and I slept in the house together in my room Saturday night, then again Sunday.

Last night, 9.3.22, another bullet came through my kitchen window. I heard the gun shots as I was laying in bed, snuck out into the living room to call police but didn't notice that a bullet had entered my home until after I called the police at 11:30, so I called back to report it.

After calling them back, the kids dad picked them up around 12:30, and I stayed back to wait for police. At 1:00, I heard more gun shots and someone yelling outside my home, so called police again while sitting on the floor in my living room. While I was in the phone with police for the 3rd time, the nonsensical yelling continued as 7 more bullets came flying through my window, over my head, showering me with glass and the closest bullet hitting about 4 feet from me.

This home seems to be targeted by some kind of gangs and my kids are no longer safe there. My job is a remote position but after hiding in a corner while bullets flew over my head, I am terrified of going back to the house. I am at my ex-husbands house, unable to work, and with no money to put a deposit on a new place.

I’m asking to please help me with money for bills, deposit and first months rent for a new place, as well as an indoor/outdoor security system for our peace of mind. I’m finally graduating with a bachelors degree, and will have to wait a long while before I can do the masters program as I will likely have to work 2 jobs to afford a place in a safer neighborhood in todays economy with a single income. I’m scared and devastated, but just need to finally stop moving around and around and find my children to a safe home.
