Remediate mold from The Four Corners Schoolhouse

The Four Corners Schoolhouse is East Montpelier’s only one-room schoolhouse in its original configuration. The Four Corners Schoolhouse Association’s mission is to preserve and maintain this historic building and to contribute to East Montpelier’s cherished rural character and sense of community by offering this accessible and welcoming space for community gatherings.

Unfortunately, mold is present in the building and is beginning to pose a threat to our community's health and safety.

Our rural community members rely on the Schoolhouse for educational presentations, creative events, local committee meetings, social events, concerts, an exercise group, and the like are held at the schoolhouse and its loss of use would weigh heavily on the community, and to remain in operation poses too many health risks.

We have consulted with professionals to help us with a plan to address the mold problem. To help cover the cost of the remediation, we have received a $30,000 grant from the Vermont Arts Council, which the Selectboard has graciously agreed to match with one-time federal ARPA funds, and we will be applying for funds from the East Montpelier Carlton Smith Fund.

We now need to fund raise $10,000 from private donations. Our goal is to support and ensure the continued long term safe use of this beautiful community resource (with a breathtaking view). No donation is too small! Please share with your friends. Thank you all for your support.
