Remembering Kim: Support for Family

On January 9th, our West Oakland community suffered an unimaginable loss. Kim, a cherished member, walked across San Pablo Ave after visiting the staff at Serenity House. How could any of us have known that a fatal hit and run collision would tragically claim her life? Can we ever predict the unexpected moment when life will come to an abrupt end?

How we wish she could’ve stayed with us longer. An immensely intelligent woman and an amazing historian, Kim’s warmth and enthusiasm touched all who knew her. You could frequently find her helping out around the neighborhood, talking to everyone she met, assisting Serenity House staff, and spreading joy. Forever etched in our hearts is the memory of Kim gracefully dancing at our community health events, a reminder of her vibrant spirit that will never fade. Kim is survived by her mother, two daughters, and a son.

We’re reaching out to the community during this heartbreaking time to rally together and support Kim’s family. The suddenness of this loss has overwhelmed the family as they grapple with the incomprehensible pain of losing a loved one.
