Remembering Chrystal: Support For Funeral Costs

Aloha friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals, It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved sister. On July 5th, 2023, Chrystal Raquel left us unexpectedly, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. During this challenging time, we come together to seek your support and compassion as we arrange a dignified farewell to honor her memory. On 11/06/2019, Chrystal's life would change forever. While living with Type 1 Diabetes, Chrystal suffered a debilitating stroke and had to be medevacked from Hilo to Honolulu to undergo lifesaving surgeries. While our family was told to prepare for the worst, it was during this time that Chrystal's resilience and strength shone through. Not only did Chrystal make it through the surgeries, she fought hard and long for four years on the road to recovery while remaining in Oahu. It was only in the past six months that we as a family were given hope that Chrystal would soon return home to Hilo so we could continue her journey to both physical and emotional healing. Unfortunately, Chyrstal fell ill and unexpectedly passed away within a 24hr time frame, leaving the family shocked and overwhelmed with grief. Although these are not the circumstances that we had hoped to find ourselves in to bring her back home to us, we find solace in knowing that her remains will finally rest with her beloved family who holds an indescribable love and longing for her. Chyrstal leaves behind a grieving fiancé Kyle and a beloved son Kyden, who held the most profound places in her heart. To her, they were her world, her reason for being, and the source of her unwavering strength. Any funds raised that exceed the cost of arrangements will be put into a trust for her son. In addition to her devoted fiancé and cherished son, the loss of this incredible woman reverberates through the hearts of her grieving mom, siblings, nieces, and nephews. To them, she was not only a loving sister, but also a beacon of strength and guidance. Her nurturing presence and unconditional love created lasting memories and deep connections within the extended family. Her high infectious laughter, and warm embrace, will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of calling her daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Our family is faced with the overwhelming task of arranging a proper farewell for Chrystal. The costs associated with organizing a meaningful funeral and memorial service have placed a significant financial burden on us during this already difficult time. We estimate that the total expenses, including funeral home fees, transportation costs from Oahu to Big Island, cremation expenses, and other necessary arrangements, amount to approximately $12,000. As a close-knit family, we want nothing more than to honor Chrystal's memory with a dignified send-off, but we are in need of your support to make this possible.
