Remembering Cori Ann Winer

On January 30th, 2021 Cori’s battle with Severe Aplastic Anemia came to an end. We lost a beloved daughter, granddaughter, aunt, sister, girlfriend, friend and mother. After having been diagnosed with this rare disease at the age of 13, Cori’s strength was so immense through it all. She surpassed all of the doctor’s expectations when told that it was terminal early on. After 9 years of proving them wrong on all accounts and being told she would never have children, she eventually gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on April 10th, 2018 at the age of 20. Being a mother changed her and God blessed her with a love she never knew she had. After being at Riley’s Childrens Hospital for 190 days enduring chemo, radiation, one failed bone marrow transplant, infections that put her on a ventilator, and one successful bone marrow transplant, she was finally able to go home before Thanksgiving 2020. Shortly after that, she contracted covid which put her right back in the hospital, in which she fought for her life for the past two and a half months. She fought hard all the way until the end. It is a blessing that we all, as a family, were able to be there with her in her last moments, to say goodbye to the strongest woman, daughter, sister, granddaughter, girlfriend, friend and mother we know. Because of the fight she put forth, Cori’s story has provided an immense amount of research study for severe Aplastic Anemia patients and provided doctors with more knowledge to help treat other patients. We are asking everyone’s help to raise as much money as possible in order for us all to celebrate her life and to ensure the care of her beautiful 2-year-old baby boy, Lawrence. Anything will help and we all will be so grateful for the donations that come our way, as we know Cori will be too. Today, heaven gained a tough angel. We know Lawrence will now have his tough mommy with him as his guardian angel wherever he will go. For anyone who has lost a daughter, granddaughter, aunt, sister, girlfriend, friend and mother, our hearts go out to you as this is an unbearable pain. May our beloved Cori Ann Winer rest peacefully in heaven.
