Darien
September 2, 1970 - August 8. 2020
On Saturday, August 8th our beloved Darien passed away. He was just 49. He found out last year he had a Glioblastoma (Brain Tumor) and for the entire year he has fought through with an emergency surgery and rounds of chemo therapy. We all know Darien lived his life with focus, passion, and enthusiasm and that is also how also lived this past year. He worked, he drove, he danced and he cooked beautiful meals. He took hikes in the mountains and he went to the gym. He spent time with his family and his friends. He lived each day with strength.
He was and will always be loved by family, countless friends and colleagues. The family takes solace in knowing that Darien’s essence, that he distilled into every aspect of his life and into his design work, will continue to live on in Arizona and throughout the world. Darien’s creative force has been a part of his every fiber since his youth. According to legend, Darien's entrepreneurial spirit was so strong that he designed a T-shirt for a beach club in the middle of the Arizona desert and sold more Harquahala Beach T-shirts than there were students at his high school. The shirts even became collectors’ pieces, coveted and continually worn with pride in his high school even years later. This was Darien; ever the chameleon, ever-willing to throw himself with full force into a creative project, ever-determined to ensure the vision he or a client had would come to fruition. Darien’s creative force remains alive and well in his work that graces city scapes, walls, and the designs and signage of communities such as Baron Properties, Vedura Residential and Stewart Apartments .
Darien is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Nana, his talented creative daughters Isabella (13), his adopted daughter Rosie(25). His adoring brother and sister Jay and Davitta and his kind and generous parents, Joy and David And a huge group of friends he considered his family. On behalf of the family, in the most devastating of circumstances, we have set up this GO FUND ME account to help ask for any donations whatsoever to help ensure they are able to remember and celebrate Darien’s life with a funeral and memorial. The funds from this campaign will all directly go towards memorial and funeral expenses, as well as support services and a college fund for Darien’s daughter, Isabella.
He asked us to celebrate and not to be sad. We are trying. There will forever l be a void in the lives of those who knew him but we have so many good memories to hold on to…
