Remembering Dorian Fundraiser

Dorian Hamilton, also known as Dee, was the most effervescent, loving, and thoughtful person I ever knew. His life was tragically cut short at eighteen years old on September 29, 2021. Dee had finally reached the point of wrapping up high school and had just begun a program at Florida State College at Jacksonville, with hopes to become a phlebotomist. Dee leaves behind a community, a village, of so many people that loved him and believed in him. His murder means he’ll never experience a prom, a wedding, his daughters day of school, not a first day of work at his dream job. Dee’s  beautiful mother, Darleen, gave us a true gem.  Dee leaves behind a beautiful baby girl, Leilani Claire. I’ve watched her eyes widen on many occasions as she looked up at her daddy. I’ve heard her and her daddy giggle together. I’ll miss Abriona and I arguing with Dee about who Leilani looks like the most. We will all mourn never getting to fix Dee’s tux at his wedding. We mourn never getting to watch Dee grow past being a teenager. It’s so important that we not allow our seemingly impenetrable pain overshadow Dorian’s legacy. I always told him he was “easy to love.” He had a contagious smile and innocent laugh that was upheld by a deeply rooted sense of joy, authenticity, and hope. Dorian had an irrepressible sense of leadership. I watched him pour into his friends, that he referred to as brothers and family, and consistently encourage them to be better, to do better. He was such a good human. I’ve witnessed and participated in many hard conversations with and around Dorian. It always amazed me that he had such a compelling capacity to grow, learn, adapt, and show compassion. It was an honor to be his bonus mom. He leaves behind a school family that will never forget him, and that was lucky to have been loved by him.
Please join me raising funds to support for the family Dee left behind. All proceeds are for Dee’s daughter, partner, and for the purpose of lifting his legacy. Supporting his family was very important to him. Join us in being the village that his daughter now needs.

Thank you.

Dorian, I’ll love you forever - Toolio
