Harold Luis Agosto Cruz, 38, passed away on December 14, 2024.
Born on January 14, 1986, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Harold grew up with a love for music, and particularly, playing drums. After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico, he continued to pursue his passions while settling in New York City where he completed his Master’s in Music Pedagogy from the City University of New York, Lehman College. Harold had an impactful and meaningful career as an educator and musician. As a musician, Harold had the opportunity to play percussion and drums in Off-Broadway shows and musicals as well as with NYC local bands San Simón and Badinba. As an educator, he mentored numerous drum and percussion students and was a beloved band and music teacher for more than 15 years.
Harold was known for his sense of humor, spontaneity, and his love for music, Formula 1, and coffee, as well his skills at the BBQ. He was an exemplary and loving father, whose entire life revolved around the immeasurable love he had for his daughter, Madison.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Zapata; daughter, Madison Agosto-Zapata; mother, Verónica Cruz; and brothers Jonathan Agosto Cruz and Christian Agosto Cruz. He was preceded in death by his father, Iluminado Agosto.
Harold’s passion for everything that he loved, the love for his family, his sense of humor, and kindness touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.
