Remembering: Harry Gene Bridges
Gene Bridges was a man of service, both to his country and to the people in his life. He served in two wars, and was a proud retired veteran of the Air Force. If you knew Gene, you knew he was a family man. If he cared about you, you were family, and he would do anything for you. He had a huge heart and there was always room for one more. He had a tremendous impact on his community, and everyone who came into contact with him. He always came with a gap toothed smile and a sense of humor. He was always helping someone in need, a true handy man, giving of himself, involved in activities and communities. I remember he always spoke about his community at Post Legion, doing steak night, playing pool at the Moose Lodge, riding with the bikers on his rides, doing the toy drive. He would always strike up a friendly conversations with strangers while waiting in line at a diner, or wherever he went. Gene was a pillar of strength and we are all devastated.
Currently, we as the family are making arrangements for a service. Due to the sudden and tragic nature of his passing, we are seeking outside assistance to help cover memorial costs. We want to make sure that Gene gets the memorial he properly deserves, and to lay him to rest so he may be at peace, in the way he would have wanted, with full military honors, buried next to his father.
We will keep everyone properly informed as we secure arrangements with DFW National Cemetery so we may all celebrate his life and share stories of his spirit amongst one another. Thank you for your compassion and consideration at this time.
