Remembering Jaws: Skatepark Tribute Fund

On February 18, 2024, we lost Jason (Jaws) Richardson. Jaws was more than just a friend; he was a devoted partner, an incredible father, and a one-of-a-kind soul who brought joy, laughter, and light into the lives of everyone who knew him. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, but we’re determined to honor his legacy in a way that reflects the spirit of his life.

Jaws was an avid skater with an unmatched passion. He was a regular at skateparks or any curb, always ready to throw down tricks, share a laugh, and encourage anyone who needed it. He loved the freedom and camaraderie that skating provided, and that love became a major part of who he was. But beyond the boards, Jaws was an even more amazing person—he loved Star Wars, had a soft spot for the classic movie Jaws, and was always reminiscing about the vibrant culture of the 80s.

To honor Jaw’s memory, we’re raising funds to place a commemorative bench at the new Sandusky Skatepark. Since he never saw the park completed, his will be there in spirit. This bench will not only provide a place for his family and friends to sit, reflect, and share stories of the impact Jaws had on all of us, but it will also serve as a permanent tribute to a man who gave so much of his life to skateboarding.

We’re aiming to raise $3,500 to cover the cost of the bench and the dedication ceremony, which will take place during the grand opening of the new skatepark on May 10, 2025. Your generous contributions will help ensure that Jaws’s memory lives on in a space he truly loved.
