Remembering Jimmy: A Boxing Legacy

Dear Community,

We come to you with heavy hearts and shattered spirits as we mourn the loss of our dear friend, James Henderson, affectionately known as Jimmy. Jimmy was more than a friend; he was a beacon of strength in our lives, a warrior on the rugby pitch, a wonderful friend to many, and a dedicated boxer.

Jimmy embodied the values of loyalty, bravery, and compassion. He showed unwavering honor and integrity in all that he did. Yet, it was his quiet humility and selflessness that truly defined him. Boxing was Jimmy's passion. He represented Cornwall with pride and boxed for the Royal Marines with the same fierce dedication he brought to everything he touched. His local boxing club was not only a place that Jimmy learnt discipline, but more importantly, it was a community that he was a part of.

Tragically, Jimmy's life was cut short in an attack in Gaza while he was working with a food aid charity. In the wake of this devastating loss, we find ourselves grappling with grief and uncertainty. But amidst the darkness, we cling to the light of Jimmy's legacy. Jimmy's local boxing club needs our support. As Jimmy's closest friends, we refuse to let his memory fade into obscurity. Instead, we choose to honor him in the most fitting way we know – by supporting the sport he loved and the community he cherished.

We have the power to make a difference, to channel our grief into something positive and transformative. Together, let us rally behind Jimmy's memory and support his boxing club that will inspire and empower countless young individuals, for generations to come.

In just 17 years, Falmouth & Penryn boxing club has grown from humble beginnings at Falmouth School to a thriving community hub. Despite challenges like relocations and the pandemic, we've persevered.

Now, faced with the critical challenge of developing a new location, we urgently need your support to ensure young boxers have a stable place to train and grow.

With low subs and dedicated volunteers, every penny goes back into empowering young lives.
