Remembering Joe Welk
Donation protected
The Welk Family, and all who knew them, have lost a truly remarkable person. On December 9, 2017, Joe Welk passed away suddenly at his home at the young age of 48. The shock and grief of his tragic loss are immense. There are no words to describe how much Joe meant to Melissa, his wife of 25 years, and family of four (Michelle, Kimberly, Ashley and Christopher).
Joe was always smiling and full of positive energy. A former Taft High School graduate, high school friends remember him for his love of science and music, with starring roles in the school musicals, where he met and fell in love with his bride-to-be, Melissa.
As the main provider for his family, Joe continued his love of science as a Research and Development Project Manager for Abbott. In his free time, he was active at St. Emily’s parish, as part of the Parish Pastoral Council, and a regular lector.
In addition, Joe was passionate about supporting his children’s athletics, volunteering over 17 years as their soccer coach, manager and Green White Soccer Club board member. The Green White community, the teams he supported and all of the parents that knew him personally, will always remember him.
Joe’s selfless giving and sphere of influence touched countless lives in his short lifetime. His tragic loss has left an unfathomable void in our hearts. We pray that you will share Joe’s Go Fund Me link and donate if you are able. All available funds will go to Melissa and the four children to offset immediate funeral expenses and health insurance needs. Please keep the Welk family in your prayers and help support them in this time of need. Finally, in Joe’s honor, remember to always live, love, learn, have faith and play strong. Joe would’ve loved that.
