Remembering Johnny Mak: Husband, Dad & Friend
Donation protected
It is with great sadness that we share the news of Johnny's passing away on Feb. 11, 2022. He is the loving husband of Catherine and the father of his 2-year-old son Preston. He is a kind and caring person who blessed the lives of many around him.
In June 2021, Johnny was diagnosed with cancer. He fought hard, as he went through surgery and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. During his most recent checkup in January 2022, the doctor informed him that he was recovering well; the tumor had reduced in size, and was considered inactive fibrosis and tissue. Unfortunately, on Feb. 11, 2022, Johnny fell unconscious at home. Paramedics attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful, and he passed away at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
Johnny has always been the pillar of his family. He took great care of Catherine and Preston, from making delicious meals to taking the family hiking. His love for basketball and biking allowed him to bond with great friends and brothers in Christ throughout his life. His professionalism also drove him to excel and be a valuable contributor at work and at his church.
Many have asked how they can help at this challenging time. We have started this Go Fund Me page as a response to the outpouring of love and support for Johnny’s family. All the funds collected will be passed to my sister Catherine as bereavement and healing support as she continues to the next chapter in life. For those who wish to make non-monetary donations, during his battle against cancer Johnny relied on the generosity of those who donate blood. If you are able, you can donate blood at the nearest Canadian Blood Services center.
