Remembering Kalina Lawrence with Matt Leggett

My brother, Matt Leggett, recently lost his wife Kalina Lawrence unexpectedly. On May 08, 2023, Kalina suffered a major stroke and was rushed to the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Despite multiple surgeries and an absolutely amazing medical team doing everything they could, the damage to her brain proved too great. On June 03, 2023, She passed peacefully in Matt's loving arms.

Kalina will forever live on in our memories and her heart will continue to beat, as she was an organ donor and a recipient for her beautiful heart was indeed found just before her passing.

Matt has a rough road ahead, emotionally and also financially. For nearly a month while Kalina was in the ICU, Matt never left her side. He has not yet returned to work. As hard as it is for him, he now has to navigate all that comes after her passing. Financially, that includes fulfilling her end-of-life wishes, organizing a memorial for friends and family, any medical expenses that may not be covered and, of course, giving himself some time to heal.
