Donation protected
Our legendary Lenny Luckey has passed. And with this sudden loss, we need a special spot to visit him. So, we are going to get a bench to put in Riverfront Park in honor of Lenny and have a special place for all of us to reflect and laugh with our friend.

August 15, 1965 – December 27, 2024
Spokane, WA – Leonard Lee “Lenny” Luckey, born August 15, 1965, in Vallejo, CA, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2024, at the age of 59. Lenny was a larger-than-life figure whose vibrant personality, boundless energy, and love for the spotlight made him a beloved icon in the Spokane community.
Lenny was born to Leonard Lee Luckey, Sr. and Caroline Mundo Luckey. He grew up to become a true legend in his own right—eccentric, fabulous, and the life of any party. His infectious spirit made him an unforgettable presence wherever he went. From his deep love of 80s music to his passion for being behind the mic, Lenny’s work as a DJ and radio personality brought joy and entertainment to countless people.
Lenny was a graduate of Shadle Park High School, class of 1983, and went on to earn a degree in broadcast journalism. He became a well-known figure in Spokane’s local entertainment scene, starting as a DJ at KSFC 91.9 FM. He also held a long-running gig at the Ice Palace, where he was a fixture for many years, playing the hottest tracks and keeping the dance floor alive. His radio voice and undeniable charisma made him a beloved personality in Spokane, where he was known for his enthusiasm and legendary storytelling.
In addition to his work on the airwaves, Lenny made his mark in several other memorable roles. He drove the iconic Spokane Falls and Northern railway Choo-Choo train at Riverfront Park, including the time he proudly chauffeured President George W. Bush during his visit to Spokane. Lenny’s mobile DJ service was a staple at local weddings and events throughout the 90s, and his talent also brought him to local gentlemen’s clubs, where his charm and respect for everyone he met earned him the title of “forever a gentleman.” Whether you skated at the Ice Palace, took a ride on the Choo-Choo, or danced the night away at a party he DJ’d, Lenny’s voice and presence were woven into the fabric of countless childhood and adult memories across Spokane.
Lenny is survived by his beloved sister, LeeAnn Reed, and her husband Steve Reed, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extended crew of friends who will forever treasure his friendship, humor, and joy. He was especially close to his fabulous friend, Katrina “Buffy” Stewart.
A service to celebrate Lenny’s incredible life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2024, at 7:00 PM at Stateline Showgirls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lenny’s Memorial Bench Fund, which will be placed in Riverfront Park in his honor. The unveiling ceremony of Lenny’s bench will take place in the spring, offering a place for all who loved him to sit, laugh, and remember the joy he brought to their lives.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help fund the memorial bench, and you can contribute here: https://gofund.me/7728b0ac
Lenny will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments will live on in the hearts of everyone who encountered his bright, beautiful spirit.
