Leo LaRue: A Life Cut Short
Donation protected
My name is Jana Underwood and I am a small business owner in Norfolk. A tragedy unfolded Tuesday night that has impacted the lives of many in our community. Our dear friend, Leo LaRue, was walking his two senior dogs when they were struck by a speeding vehicle on Colley Ave. Unfortunately, Leo and his dogs did not survive the impact, leaving his husband, Kirk and everyone who knew him completely devastated.
Leo’s life was marked by profound kindness, compassion and generosity. He was always the first to help others, whether through financial support, acts of service, or simply offering a hot meal to someone in need. Leo, a retired Navy veteran, honorably served in the military for 24 years. He was incredibly passionate about adopting senior dogs and provide them a home full of love and lots of “walkies”.
Leo and Kirk have given so much back to our small community. Their house was always open for anyone who had nowhere to go for the holidays. They were actively involved with the Food Bank, volunteered to help clean up the Lafayette River, rescued senior dogs and countless other volunteer opportunities in the community. Through these acts of kindness, Leo and Kirk touched the lives of so many.
In Leo’s honor, we are asking for your help during this incredibly difficult time. Leo’s unexpected death has created an urgent financial hardship for his family. Some of the immediate expenses include funeral services, medical bills and other accident expenses. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference and will serve as a tribute to Leo’s legacy of love, generosity and compassion.
Thank you for your kindness and support as we honor Leo’s memory.
