LT Hobart Kistler, USN, SC, (USNA '13) passed away Friday, April 30 in a tragic car accident. He is survived by his incredible wife and family.
Words alone will not suffice to describe the life of Hobart Kistler, but we will try. Hobart was a true American, honorably serving his country through service to his nation in the US Navy Supply Corps. More importantly, however, Hobart was an incredible human being whose reputation crossed more social circles and networks than anyone could begin to imagine. A passionate historian and genealogist, Hobart never ceased to amaze those who knew him with his never-ending stories and his ability to transcend generations. His impact on those he met serves as a testament to his character and his legacy will be unparalleled.
Hobart graduated from United States Naval Academy in May 2013 with a BS in Economics and a minor in Spanish and commissioned as a US Naval Supply Corps Officer. After graduation, Hobart finished his MS in Finance from Johns Hopkins University before reporting to Supply School in Newport. Hobart served tours as the Supply Officer aboard the USS Louisville (SSN-724), Deputy Director of Finance at the Office of Naval Reactors, Military Social Aide to the President, and was serving as the Retail Services Officer aboard the PCU John F. Kennedy (CVN-79).
All contributions will go to support Hobart's wife and family through this difficult time.
If you have any good Hobart stories, photos, or videos (as many of us do), please share below!
Rest easy, shipmate. We have the watch. Stand tall, big man.
