Remembering Luis Valdez

On Friday, August 28th, Luis Javier Valdez gained his wings. Luis’s death was unexpected and sudden. Luis was only 47 years old . He leaves behind his 3 loving children; Zachary Ruiz (26), Jordan Valdez (25), and Alexis Kolodziejczak (20), granddaughter: Zamiah Ruiz, mother: Ida Valdez, stepdad: Leonardo Tapia, sister: Maria Valdez, brother: Leonardo Tapia Jr., and nephew: Julian Aguirre. He will be missed deeply.
Luis was a strong, wonderful son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and role model to all. He was also an admirable pillar in his Pilsen community. He was a friend, a coach, a leader, and an inspiration to many. He coached and played softball, football, and basketball.
Our family has started this fundraiser to help cover the cost of my dad’s funeral expenses. Our family was not prepared for this unexpected event and during this difficult time, we are reaching out to our family, friends and community for help.
