Remembering Mark Harbison - Service Above Self

I am Lisa Oyama, Mark Harbison's wife and soulmate of 40 years. I am fundraising to cover Mark's funeral arrangements, hospital expenses, and legal fees. Mark passed on December 9, 2022, of heart failure at Maui Memorial Hospital in Hawaii. Mark had chronic heart disease but never let this stop him from making a difference as just one person. His first heart attack was in August 1999 when he was scuba diving on Maui and flown to Honolulu for quadruple bypass surgery at Queen's Hospital. In February 2014, he experienced sudden cardiac arrest after arriving at Santa Clara Airport for a Rotary conference. He had just qualified for Obamacare only one month earlier. On November 19, 2022, Mark fell ill after completing an all-day Rotary fundraiser on behalf of the Maui Food Bank. He was admitted to ER and then moved to ICU for 3 weeks until his passing. Even while in the hospital Mark, a Rotarian for over 20 years, worked on Rotary International global grants for safe water in Nepal and local grants for health fairs for children on Maui. Mark was president of the Maui Food Bank for 10 years and focused on food insecurity, especially during Covid. He was also a Realtor Broker at Coldwell Banker Island Properties on Maui for 21 years. Due to his medical history, Mark did not qualify for life insurance. I ask for your support for Mark, who gave so much of himself to others throughout his life, until the very end.
