Remembering Otis: A Veteran's Last Journey

I am a friend of 30 years to a Veteran of 25 years who recently passed away. His name is Otis Williams, he retired from the military and served in two wars. Unfortunately he had no benefits since he wasn't in a VA nursing home or disabled. Also, there is no life insurance of any kind. I am doing this so he isn't treated like a homeless person. Actually, he had so called people who took all his money before I stepped in to help and discovered this. I helped the nursing home get his account straight, but the money was gone before it could be closed out. It's a sad story. He passed December 1st and was sent to a funeral home that was expensive. I found one less expensive so he can be cremated and his body not held hostage. He will be transferred to Lusain Funeral Home in Birmingham, AL that is more affordable.
