Remembering Ramon Morales

Ramon Morales joined our Applebee’s family in 2003 as part of the opening team at our Ellenton, Florida location.  Ramon was a host for 17 years at Ellenton. He was more than the person who greeted you with a warm smile at the front door, he was a kind and giving man, full of life.  He welcomed everyone with his big smile and friendly attitude. He was the “Mayor of the dining room”, making sure our guests were having a great experience, keeping things clean and comfortable and helping in any way he was able.

Ramon also worked full-time for more than a decade at Manatee High School in Bradenton as a custodian.  He took great pride in keeping the football field and grounds in tip-top shape.

Ramon was hospitalized earlier this month for shortness of breath, following a positive COVID-19 test.  His family believes the virus exacerbated his kidney issues, and his daughter said the Florida Department of Health recently confirmed that COVID-19 was the cause of his death Wednesday July 22, 2020.  Our team in Ellenton was devastated to learn of the passing of our team member, and friend, who has been an important part of our restaurant family for more than a decade.

Ramon worked two full-time jobs to provide for his wife Lori, their six children, as well as his 95-year-old mother in Mexico. August 1st Ramon would have celebrated his 65th birthday.
