Remembering Ray Ackley

It is with deep regret that I inform you that Ray Ackley unexpectedly passed away yesterday on Feb 16, 2022. Ray is survived by his his wife Ching Ackley and his three boys Adam (11 yrs), Benjamin (6 yrs), and Thomas (5 months).
Ray has been with Microsoft for 13+ years and has worked in a broad set of engineering and customer support groups. Ray touched many lives at Microsoft in positive ways. He was also a very genuine person, who always cared for the people who worked with him and was a very sincere and dedicated team member at Microsoft.
Prior to Microsoft, Ray served for over seven years in the Army National Guard in a variety of leadership assignments. Ray’s operational deployments include service in Afghanistan and Kuwait. Following successful platoon leadership, Ray took assignments as both a Company Executive Officer and then Company Commander of the 196th Signal Company, 113th Signal Battalion. We are grateful for Ray’s selfless service, and the experience and focus that he carried forward to his time at Microsoft.
On every team, it is the individual personalities who build our culture and Ray definitely made an impact wherever he worked. He is a tremendous loss and we will miss him. Our hearts go out to Ray, his family and his friends in this time of need.
This is not a Microsoft-sponsored fundraiser but a way for Ray's Microsoft co-worker community to help support Ray's family in this troubling time and help with all of the expenses that will come. All funds will go directly to Ray's family. Thank you.
