Remembering Sal Marroquin
On January 25, 2021 our beloved friend Sal Marroquin passed away in his sleep. This sent shock waves into our lives and community; why was this young, full-of-life husband, and father, brother, son, cousin, and friend taken away from us so soon? Why was it his time to leave us? As we try to make sense of this heartbreaking event and help his family, including his wife and three children (ages 13 years, 11 years, and 8 months) put together a world that no longer makes sense, we could use your support. We have created this account to help the Marroquin family pay unexpected funeral expenses, medical bills, and create savings/college accounts for his children. We hope you will consider donating to Sal’s family – no amount is too small or too big. Please share this story with others!
Sal was a magical human being. He holds a Master’s degree from UCLA, worked as a special education teacher and soccer coach at Mayfair High School, and coached several club soccer teams within his community. He is vibrant, spontaneous, generous, and caring. He never fails at making others laugh and welcomes everyone warmly into his home. His desire to live a happy and fulfilling life makes you want to live your best life, which makes it no surprise to hear about the number of remarkably close relationships he has created and maintained throughout his life. From his childhood & college friends to his club soccer & Mayfair family – students, colleagues, players, family, friends – he made each person feel like they were his only best friend, or his favorite colleague, or a remarkable student, or a talented player – Sal’s gift to the world was his ability to make others feel valuable, confident, and happy about themselves.
Sal would be the first to say the people that have shaped him were his devoted parents who he looked up to all of his life and taught him how to be generous, warm, loving, and kind. His supportive and talented sister who he loved spending time with and shares a common passion for education. His beautiful wife Erin, who he always tried his best to show how much he treasures her, excluding that one time he lost his wedding ring. Erin showed him what it means to provide unwavering support and guidance, and true love. His children, Sophia (13 years), Olivia (11 years), and his baby boy Luka (8 months), who made him proud of their accomplishments every day, filled his heart with joy from their hugs, kisses, smiles, and laughter showed him how unconditional love truly feels like.
We will always remember him. We will always protect his family and shower them with love and support. We will always keep his spirit alive!
Sal is survived by his wife Erin, 2 daughters Sophia and Olivia, and son, baby Luka. He is also survived by his parents, Cristina and Sal Marroquin and his sister Diana.
Thank you for taking time to read about our angel, Sal.
