Remembering Steve Hulsman

June 28, 2024 Update:
Dear Friends of Steve Hulsman,
My brother, John, is working on getting a secondary/honorary street name sign placed at the site of the collision that ended the life of my late husband, Steve Hulsman. To get off the ground, this project requires three things: 1) a resolution to be put forth by a member of Seattle’s City Council, 2) an “external sponsor,” and 3) a payment of $2000.00 by the external sponsor to cover the project cost.
The resolution by a city council member is planned for a little later this year, and I have promised to be the external sponsor. If you would like to make a small donation toward that cost, please do so through this GoFundMe. I will cover any portion of the cost not met through GoFundMe contributions.
With deepest gratitude,
Rita Hulsman

Hi, my name is Rita, and I am the widow of Steve Hulsman. Tragically, Steve lost his life last December as the result of a car-bike collision near our home. Steve was taken to Harborview Hospital where efforts were made to resuscitate and treat him, but his injuries were severe, and he was pronounced dead later that evening.
When I first set up the Remembering Steve Hulsman fundraiser, I was pretty worried by the huge medical bills I had started receiving, especially since the driver involved in the collision was uninsured and the uninsured motorist coverage included in our policy would cover only some of the medical costs. But I was recently advised that almost all of the rest will eventually be covered by our medical insurance. So ALL of the funds raised here will be put into programs focusing on bicycling awareness and safety. Thank you so much for your support!
