Remembering Steve Mussack: Support His Memorial
Donation protected
Hello friends,
May of this year marked 17 years since the passing of Steve Mussack. I was visiting friends in Simi Valley several years ago and went to the Assumption Cemetery to pay my respects, and was surprised his gravesite has no marker. I reached out to his son Michael to learn that is still the case. Out of respect for the family, I will not get into the reasons why, but decided it was time to act to honor this husband and father, or more familiar to us; teacher, outdoorsman, mentor, and friend.
Some of us know Steve as a colleague or fellow teacher. Most of us remember him as our Algebra teacher. Still, some of us spent an afternoon or two after school at Stony Point, learning to rock climb. Maybe it was a weekend hiking in the mountains of Southern California, or a week or two in the Sierras during the summer. Great memories.
As mentioned, Steve's final resting place is without a marker. Through the cemetery, Michael and his mother, Sue, have worked on the above design, appropriately adorned with Mt. Whitney. The cost of the marker is $1,643.09.
As colleagues, students, and alumni, please consider honoring Steve with a small donation. Together we will get this done. I will keep everyone updated on progress and provide photos when it is complete and the marker is in place.
Sincerely,
