On May 10, 2020 my mother was admitted into the ER as a stroke patient. A clot was discovered in her left carotid artery. The doctor explained the clot began around her shoulder area and through years of high blood pressure and stress it traveled to her brain.

The doctor attempted to perform a thrombectomy but as he tried to operate, my mother's brain started hemorrhaging. The bleeding would occur every time he tried to operate on her. After a little over an hour he had to stop. The doctor updated us and explained to us that because he could no longer operate, my mother's left brain hemisphere will die. She was taken to the Neuro ICU for observation as her brain began swelling.

On May 13, Wednesday afternoon, the doctor confirmed the left side of her brain was indeed gone. The goal  to save the remaining right side was to keep her on the sodium drip to prevent and reduce the ongoing swelling in her brain. The doctor explain that by Monday her swelling should normalized and we could discuss recovery plans then.

Wednesday night at 10:30pm we received a call from the hospital telling us that there has been a sudden and dramatic change in my mom's status. With a heavy heart we rushed to the hospital and waited. Due to COVID-19 we were unable to be by her side, but the hospital staffs were kind enough to allow my dad and little brother to go to her as the rest of us kids waited in the waiting room.

Around 2am Thursday we jumped on a video call with my father and the doctor. The doctor broke the news to us, and explained that the sodium drip couldn't prevent the brain swelling completely and my mother's brain "exploded" resulting in her becoming brain dead. No longer being able to breathe without the help of a ventilator, our family made the most difficult decision of our lives by turning the machine off.

May 15, Friday, we waited until everyone was gathered together and on that afternoon, with my father and older sister with her, we turned the machine off. She passed away 15 minutes after. My mother would have been 47 years old on June 3, 2020.

Because of COVID-19 we have to wait close to two months to lay her to rest. Her funeral date is set for June 28, 2020 and be held at Lakeview Funeral Home in Brown Deer, WI. The funeral will be held only on take Sunday. Doors will open at 8am until 11pm and will open again the next day on Monday at 8am until 11am. Afterwards my mom will be laid to rest.

Due to COVID-19 we understand that some of our distant relatives can not come see my mother for the last time. This Go Fund Me account is created for friends and family to help donate money to help alleviate the cost of funeral and burial expenses.
