Remy's Battle Against Covid 19

My dearest family and friends

For the past 2 weeks, my family in the Philippines has been affected by COVID 19 and has been devastating for my whole family.  My mum (age 65), 2 of my older brothers, their spouses including their 5 children (ages between 6 to 21) have been confirmed positive with Covid 19.  

My mum, eldest brother, and his wife are all in the hospital where both mum and sister-in-law being in ICU with severe pneumonia and currently undergoing HEMOPERFUSION procedure which requires 4 cartridges costing $1,900 AUD per cartridge (similar to dialysis to filter the blood).   My niece managed to source 2 cartridges outside the hospital for half the price with the help of the nurses.  

My other brother, his wife and the five children are currently staying home on self-isolation however since they have been tested positive they are told to move to quarantine facilities immediately which means no one will attend to the needs of those who are in the hospital.  

Unlike in Australia and other first-world countries, Philippines has a completely different hospital policies where IMMEDIATE PAYMENTS should be made before they start any medications or procedures. Hospital cost are from medications, procedures, staff’s PPE, medical supplies (urinals, bedpans, syringes, IV tubings, mask, gloves, bed paddings), catheter placements, room charge, doctors and nurses fee, laboratory, imaging/CT scans etc. They have been in the hospital for 9 days now and the current hospital expenses has add up to over 1.5 million pesos ($39,000AUD) and accumulating everyday not including other medications sourced outside the hospital. My mum has 4 attending doctors while my sister-in-law has 5 including a Neurosurgeon because she had a mild stroke whilst undergoing a procedure.  

At this stage, the hospital is demanding at least 100,000 pesos ($2,777AUD) per day per patient as a partial payment due to the expensive nature of the procedures and medications my mum and sister in law needed and failure to comply the hospital will CLOSE their account and will stop the medication and treatment.  

I am currently the only one supporting my family during this ordeal as they have no other source of income since the start of the PANDEMIC which has been over year now.  We have been putting in a lot of money collectively with the help of some close friends but it is starting to overwhelm us as the hospital expenses continue to pile up and as more health complications comes up.

They still have a very long road to recovery.  We are pleading for your support to help pay for their growing hospital expenses. I just lost my father last year and I do not want to lose any member of the family again. $1, $20, $50.... no donation is too little for us. Every help is appreciated
