Remy's Medical Needs
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Meet Remy.
Remy is a 10 month old mutt (made up of 18 breeds, including coyote) who has paralyzed hind legs, and this is why we need your help.
Why we started this gofundme:
*We are in need of support from our community. Due to Remy's condition, she drags herself around and has many pressure sores and wounds. We are asking for help to provide continued laser therapy and physical therapy to help heal her wounds so that she does not contract any infections. She requires constant care from vets as well for many different things that are just side effects of how she moves around. We would love to continue to purchase different types of equipment like drag bags and variations of wheelchairs for her so that she is able to easily move around and navigate the world. We appreciate any type of help you are willing to give. Thank you for reading.
Remy's story:
Max and I (McKenna) met back in 2019 working at a summer camp in Colorado for kids with disabilities. Last December, Max and I got engaged. Our incredible wedding photographer (Two One Photography) did a shoot for Soul Dog Rescue in Fort Lupton, CO featuring the beautiful Remy. They shared Remy’s story on their social media and we knew we had to meet her. We met up with Remy and her foster family and instantly had a connection with her. I was going through a hard time, and Remy just exuded joy.
Remy was born in New Mexico on a reservation. At 2 months old, she was hit by a car and left for dead after shattering her pelvis, leaving her paralyzed. Soul Dog Rescue found her and brought her to Colorado. Remy found her way through 4 foster homes in the next 4 months due to her complicated medical needs. When she came to live with us, we were her 5th home.
We fostered her for 6 days before making her adoption official. Despite her disability, she is the strongest girl I know. She has tenacity beyond belief. Now, at 10 months old, she is training to be a therapy dog. With physical therapy, laser therapy, and support from her community, she is on her way to success. She is utilizing her wheelchair to explore the world to her fullest potential. Though she comes with lots of trauma, she is so friendly. All she wants is to be loved and now, she absolutely is.
