Rena my rescue dog needs life saving surgery
This weekend, my 12 year old dog ate some herbal beads from inside a "Bed Buddy" microwavable muscle sack. She threw many of them up but continued to feel horrible and kept throwing up more. I took her to the Metropolitan Vet Hospital in Copley, OH at 6 am.
She was hospitalized for 24 hours to see if they could move them through, but eventually it was confirmed she has a blockage and needs surgery. I rescued her at age 7 from the euthanasia list and for all the 6 years I've had her, after recovering from Heartworm treatment, she never once had any digestive or any other issue. She was found to have collapsing trachea 3 months ago, which I've been treating successfully with inhaled medications.
I've been working hard this year to pay for my own TMJ treatment. Now this surgery has come up and it's almost as much as my own treatment is. It is very embarrassing for me to ask for help, as I had a savings account for pet emergency vet care, but had only gotten it up to $1,000. That didn't even pay for her initial hospitalization and treatment. That was estimated at $1200-$1700, and the surgery estimate is $3,500-$4,500. I promised her I would take care of her for her whole life, not until she eats something she wasn't supposed to, so letting her die wasn't an option. It's a beautiful day today, she should be on a walk with her mom. Her favorite thing to do is explore and sniff. She's a Beagle/Husky mix.
We will be so grateful for any help, even $5. Thank you so much.
