On Tuesday, August 25th Rene's 32 year old son, Christian La Paz -DeJesus, was struck by a police cruiser as he was walking on Route 6 in Fairhaven. His injuries were so severe that he was transferred to Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. On Thursday, August 27th around 8:30 pm the most Difficult and Heart Wrenching decision that any parent should ever have to make was made and Christian was taken off of Life Support, leaving his Parents, his Son, and
anyone that loved Christian devastated.
Imagine what it would be like to have your healthy 32 year old son be perfectly fine on a normal Tuesday morning in August and you get a phone call from a Hospital and the Police telling you that your son has been in a serious car accident and that you need to come to the hospital immediately! In that instance a family's life was changed forever.
I am one of Rene's best friends, and I was with him fishing, one of our favorite things to do in our free time, when he got "that' phone call. We packed up everything and headed home. When we were almost at my house Rene received a call from the Doctor on speaker phone in the car and the Doctor explained the severity of his son Rene's injuries ~ Broken Neck , Broken Back, Broken Sternum and then he went on to say those were not the worst of Christian's injuries. Christian had Severe Trauma to his brain and there was no Brain Activity and they did not expect him to make it.
After the phone call Rene dropped me off at my house and I went inside and burst into tears as this news ripped me to shreads and I could not even imagine how Rene was going to get through this as he was heading to the hospital to see his son.
Rene works with me at Herb Chambers Lexus of Sharon and he is the kind of guy who would do anything for you and he is loved by everyone here. When you meet Rene your life is instantly better. He is a man of Faith and a Great Family Man. Rene's Beautiful Family needs our help.
