Dear Friends,
My journey to the 2017 Los Angeles Marathon actually began almost nine years ago after suffering a heart attack. It is a path that has opened both my heart and my mind to the needs of others, for women in particular. Like many of you, I am truly grateful for the opportunities I have enjoyed in my life, realizing how blessed I am. So many others, in the our city, go without the many comforts I sometimes take for granted. Homeless women in the Los Angeles area are certainly among those who are often overlooked.
With your generous support in the past, we have been able to raise money for the Downtown Women's Center. It is an organization that is both effective and worthwhile, and has helped thousands of women survive the vagaries of the street, having helped many find a path off of it. DWC's mission is to provide permanent supportive housing and a safe and healthy community fostering dignity, respect, and personal stability, and to advocate ending homelessness for women.

This year I am, again, dedicating my Marathon walk on March 19th to the Downtown Women's Center to help facilitate the programs that benefit the homeless women in the Los Angeles area. Won't you join me for this marathon by donating on my behalf to this very noble organization.
Very sincerely yours,
Renee
