Reno Burrito Project

**UPDATES** Our team has been blown away with the amount of money, time and resources this community has given. This year has been hard on everyone and it means the world that you all are willing to stand with us in helping out the houseless. The pandemic has been hard on Reno's houseless community so even one warm meal makes a big difference.
Since we began this campaign in late July we have grown in numbers and have been able to hand out 200-300 burritos along with water, warm clothing, books, and other community donations. We raised $2000 for a woman undergoing breast cancer treatments while living on the street, Marie Griffiths. We have been fortunate enough to be featured in Our Town Reno, Reno Gazette Journal, KTVN Channel 2 News, and NEVADA Today.
This GoFundMe will remain active so that we may continue taking donations. It is our hope that this project continues well into the future.
With love and respect,
The Reno Burrito Project

Help us continue to feed and connect with the houseless population of Reno, Nevada.
This project began when Blaize Akanaab, a UNR graduate student from Ghana, gathered up a few friends one weekend, cooked up 40 burritos and started walking the streets, handing a burrito to anyone in need. Three months later and the group has dedicated every weekend to cooking and giving out burritos to houseless folks in downtown Reno.
The project has grown and last week we gave out 100 burritos along with water, fruit, masks, personal hygiene kits, feminine products, and clothing. We've also gotten to know and care for this community.
So far, we have paid for everything out of pocket. To keep this going at our current pace, we will need some help. $6000 is what we would need for one year of service. Anything you can give is incredibly helpful!
Thanks,
Blaize Akanaab, Humphrey Shikoli, Kristina Mason, Frankie Talbot, Joakima, Blake Thomas, Katie Uckele and Stephanie Coronado
