Renovations for an art studio for kids
Donation protected
From a very young age I had the dream of being an artist. I loved the act of creating and I felt deep within me the healing power of art. Growing up in a family where I was the youngest of 8 kids art supplies weren’t something we could regularly afford so many times I turned to the resources of our public schools to fuel my passion for creating. I learned then that those art rooms were sacred spaces where people from all walks of life could come to feel safe and create. In my later teens I dreamed of being an art teacher and sharing my love for art with the world. Everyone should and could have access to those sacred safe spaces and everyone should have opportunities to heal through art. Life goes quickly and my opportunities to teach became dreams again. At least if I could dream then the idea couldn’t die.
Now I’m faced with opportunity again. An old carriage house sits on a pristine plot of historic farm land just waiting to be restored to a functional beauty that only a creative mind could love. The building hasn’t been lived in for a decade and is in need of full restoration. I’ve taken this project on but fully understand I can’t do it alone.
As much as I refuse to ask for help for myself the truth is this isn’t a space that I’m creating for me. This is a safe space and a safe place for all members of our community. My dream for the space is to make it accessible to all who require a sacred safe space to create. Everything needs to be redone to get to that point though from the roof to the electrical. I have the knowledge to do the renovation but lack the funds to support the project. Every small bit helps push this dream into reality. Thank you for taking the time to read this far.
