Rent For Struggling Howard Student

Greetings! My name is Destin Davis. I am a Junior Mathematics major with a minor in French from Harlem, New York. I am a member of the second cohort of the Karsh STEM Scholars' Program and I humbly come to you in need. This year has been a very difficult year for me. While battling severe depression, I have been kicked out of my home by family twice for seeking therapy and psychiatric help. I attempted to take a retroactive medical withdrawal from the Spring 2020 semester; however, a Howard faculty member was unresponsive for months, causing me to temporarily lose my scholarship and forcing me to register 3 weeks after the start of the semester. Then, after struggling with online classes a family member of mine nearly killed themselves after jumping off of their 5-story balcony. After this incident, I decided to withdraw from the Fall 2020 semester as well. I also made the decision to take the next semester off as well, focusing on getting back in school and building up my mental health. I want to be able to have my own space to think, breathe, and live comfortably. Thankfully, I have found a place to stay in D.C. I move in early January and would like to raise and save as much money as possible as quickly as possible to help cover rent for my 5-month lease. Any contribution would help immensely!
