Reopen St. Veronica's Church
Donation protected

St. Veronica’s Church, a Landmarked building, built in 1887, was locked on June 25th, 2017. Since that time, with the invaluable help of the St. Joseph’s Foundation, non profit experts in Canon Law who work pro bono, we have been working to have the Church reopened. We need to raise $10,000 – 15,000 to pay for the Signatura case and for Italian legal council.
Why do we want to reopen St. Veronica’s?
1) St. Veronica’s is the only Catholic Church west of 7th Avenue from West 14th Street south to the Financial District.
a. The elderly & families with children have a long distance to travel to receive sacraments
2) The first AIDS Memorial in New York City lives here
a. Loved ones now have no access
3) The Gift of Love, an AIDS hospice administered by Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity is in the former rectory.
a, The residents, who are very ill, cannot walk the 10 blocks to the next nearest Catholic Church
Why do we keep fighting? We fight because the Church, which is in the deepest crisis, needs its small parishes more than ever. We have been neglected and ignored for too long. The parishioners are the body of the Church, and the Church will not recover or repent without us.
Your donation will pay for: Italian/Vatican legal representation. It will pay for airfare and hotel in Rome for one or two members of St. Veronica’s Committee if necessary. Any unused donations will be given to St. Joseph’s Foundation in gratitude for their unstinting and always excellent advice and help. For more information:
