Repaint Hate
Donation protected
My name is Olivia Trimble, and I'm a sign painter in Fayetteville, Arkansas. On November 11th, I was notified that hate filled graffiti had been tagged on City Hospital, adjacent to our beautiful public library. I jumped out of bed, loaded my car, and covered that hate speech as fast as I could. I was motivated to do this simply because I cannot abide hate speech in my city.
As people responded, I realized this was something everyone can do. I started a Facebook group called Repaint Hate that has grown to over 1,000 members nation wide in about 24 hours. The momentum has been overwhelming, and so have the requests to donate. Any donations made will be used to #repainthate and to create colorful murals in cities across the country with the kind of positive message that propelled #repainthate forward to begin with.
I am amazed by the enthusiasm, hope, and generosity that the small action of painting over hate speech has inspired. Thank you all so much for joining me to #repainthate
