Dallas Flores Eagle Project: Painting Band Field
Don protégé
Many organizations rely on information to function, especially for an organization such as our marching band. I hope you are doing well, my name is Dallas Flores, I am a Sophomore trombonist at Wakeland High School working toward earning the honor of Eagle Scout. Many dots on the high school’s band field have faded due to the hot Texas summer heat and wearing down through the past 4 years of hard work. These dots are used early on in band camp to help create good habits in our marching technique such as proper step sizes and tracking. Later in the season they are used to help band members find their location on the field to create clear pictures, but as the season goes on more of these field dots and locations become faded, making it difficult for learning new drill, self analyzing, and fixing our positions on our own in relation to these dots.
My plan for the project is to not only make these measurements more visible, but to also use long lasting, heat-resistant paint to ensure that our band will be able to continue to have good marching measurements for years to come. Paint is expensive, so any donation is greatly appreciated. Extra donations as well as donations that are not used in the project will be donated to the Wakeland Band Program for future band uses, and donations are tax deductible (see below).
Boy Scouts of America is a 501(c)3 non-profit entity, and the BSA Troop 1260 is sponsored by St. Philips Episcopal Church (Tax ID #17529644787). Any donation you make is completely tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law. Once again, I am very grateful for any support given toward helping me successfully complete my Eagle Project. Thank you in advance for your consideration and donations!
