Repair and renovate our old warehouse barn

Tax deductible
UPDATE: 2/19/23: Repairs have begun and are moving along nicely. As you can see in the photo, the roof continues to disintegrate—and we still need donations to pay to replace it. Please help if you can! Your dollars will be matched by a generous donor.

UPDATE 2/11/23: A generous donor has stepped forward with a $15,000 match challenge. Every dollar donated will be matched, up to a total of $15,000. Now is the time to donate what you can to help us repair the barn—your donation will go twice as far! Thank you for your support!

We're raising money for extensive barn repairs at Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue (HPF-Rescue-Rehab-Rehome). Your donation will help us reach our goal.

We've always put a huge emphasis on educating the public—especially kids of all ages—about horse rescue: what it is, how we can all reduce the need for rescue, create better outcomes for horses at risk, and how they can share their knowledge with others. Until now, we've made do with primitive makeshift classrooms amid stacks of hay bales and roving roosters. It's been quite a challenge to keep them focused in the middle of what sometimes seems like pandemonium, with the roosters crowing, the tractor moving manure and bales of hay, and inclement weather. The kids have been extraordinary and have learned a lot, but we know we can do a better job of providing a stable learning environment for kids and their parents.

This GoFundMe campaign is for major repairs and renovations to an old warehouse building at Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue in Brentwood, NH. The main part of the warehouse is currently used to house horses and store hay, but once we shore up the north side of the building, we’re planning to add a new area inside the warehouse to use as a gathering area, warm-up station, office, overnight space to keep watch over an injured horse or mare about to foal, and an activity center for our young visitors, summer campers, and volunteers. We also will be getting a new metal roof, which as you see in the photo, it badly needs! UPDATE: the recent mega-storm at Christmas brought extremely high winds, which did a huge amount of damage to the existing roof, such that we need to replace it much sooner than we'd anticipated.

Much of the labor will be provided by volunteers, but the site work and some of the repairs require additional equipment and professional help.

About us:

Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue (HPF-Rescue-Rehab-Rehome, EIN# 47-5424832) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Brentwood, New Hampshire.

Although our main mission is to rescue horses at risk of entering the slaughter pipeline, rehabilitate them if necessary, and find them good permanent homes, we also are committed to educating the public—especially young people—about how we can all work together to help horses in need. This new space in the warehouse will give us a room for educational seminars, summer camp projects, meetings, and (at last!) an office, so Phyllis can stop using her dining room table as her desk and filing cabinet.
