Repair Glen Echo Stone Pillars
Donation protected
The Historic Glen Echo neighborhood is graced by several beautiful stone pillars that were erected in the early days of the neighborhood. These mark the entrance to the neighborhood at Glenmawr and Hudson, and the corner of Glenmawr at Cliffside facing the park. Several stone obelisks topped by lightposts also light the Glenmawr median. These graceful civic gestures have survived for over 100 years. Sadly, at some point on February 23rd, 2021, an accident involving a vehicle destroyed the pillar at Glenmawr and Cliffside. The Glenmawr median, where most of these reside, is a defacto community gathering spot. The median is home to neighborhood potlucks, egg hunts, 4th of July bike parades, Halloween parties and chance meetings of neighbors. Since the pandemic it has also become an imagination inspiring place for neighborhood children to play.

Fundraising through this account will prioritize the rebuilding of the pillar at Glenmawr and Cliffside that was destroyed. Any remaining funds will go toward much needed restoration and repairs to the other stone pillars and obelisks throughout the neighborhood, all of which are in need of attention. Any funds remaining after all repairs have been made will be donated to Friends of the Ravines, which looks after all of our Central Ohio ravines, but especially our beloved Glen Echo Ravine.

Neighbors are in contact with a stone mason about rebuilding the lost pillar and repairs to the others and will update this post once we have a better idea of what repairs will cost.
My family and I have been Glen Echo neighbors since 2009 and I have served as a past president of the neighborhood civic association.
