Repair of Hopeman Skate Park
Donation protected
!!UPDATE 21-04-2024: We are still actively trying to fund our ongoing plans with teh skatepark. We have recently had great donations from the Hopeman Primary Parent Council from the school disco, David England from the sale of the 2024 Calendars and also Gracie Banks and the team from The Twisted Stitches from there recent craft fare! This along with all other donations are gratefully received.
We have now been round and measured up teh park for all replacement parts needed for the half pipe and other ramps with damage. We will go ahead now and order these parts as we have reached an amount to allow this. We will continue to raise funds in the hope that we can raise enough in the future to resurface the park.
Please keep sharing folks and please donate where you can!! Every penny will go back into the skatepark and keep it going for many years to come!!
Thanks again!!
!!UPDATE: We have received a massive £10,000 Donation to our cause in the past few days!! As such, we are going to continue fundraising to complete phase II, the resurfacing project at the same time, hoping to complete all works before summer 2024! Please keep sharing our story and donating where you can!!
Hi, my name is Ian Ralph, and I am the new Chairman of the Hopeman Skate Park committee.
We are aiming to raise funds to allow essential repairs and maintenance to be carried out to the skate park. There are several components within the ramp structures that are damaged and need to be replaced, along with some of the substructures below the ramp surfaces. Replacing these damaged parts will improve the overall condition of the park and also the experience for the riders using it.
The ramp components need to be purchased from the manufacturer in Europe and then delivered to Hopeman before being installed to replace the damaged parts.
The initial funding raised will mainly be put towards the repair of the big half pipe at the park which has several damaged sections. The big half pipe is one of the only ramps of its kind in the area and on its own attracts people to the park. Additionally, this initial funding will bring some of the other ramps back to there original state.
Should we reach our targets, any additional funding raised will go towards future repairs and plans such as resurfacing the facility. We will keep all updated on progress, plans and future plans through the new Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HopemanSkatePark/ & the Hopeman Community Association.
The Skate Park is a community run park, located on the North East Corner of the village green. Being community run, all costs associated with the park, fall to the responsibility of the community. Previous funding was gained through memberships but being a small community, new members are becoming less frequent.
The idea to add such a facility to Hopeman was formed during 2003 by Terry & Ann Brown. From there a committee comprising of Terry & Ann, Mark O’Shane, Fiona Tulloch, Linda Dixon and seven other youth members was formed.
The park was built in five stages between 2004 and 2008 when it was officially opened and over the years there has been a huge increase in interest from within our community and from all over Scotland. There are now in excess of 1,300 members.
Hopeman skate park is an important part of the community and has a extremely good reputation as being a family friendly park. We need your help to ensure that we can carry out the very much needed repairs and continue the legacy of the founding members/ committee of the park. Every donation, no matter how big or small will contribute towards being able to do this.
We thank you for your help.
