Reparations for Shana

Today I am inspired by Oluwatoyin Salau, and the countless other Black women who have been victimized within our community, to tell my story. For the past 5 years, starting at the young age of 18, I have faced grooming, verbal, mental, financial and sexual abuse while under the mentorship of John Burns, founding member and temporary chief coordinating organizer of the BLM New Jersey statewide network (autonomous of the then National Nework; now BLM Foundation) ,founding member of the Africana Love Project and Urban Grace, and is the point person for SURJ NJ. In conjunction to a neglectful family, this trauma has kept me in a perpetual state of homelessness, poverty and deteriorating mental health. I am asking for community support and healing, as well as for those who’ve traumatized me to be held accountable.

I am starting a Gofundme to help me pay for mental health services/ potential medication for ptsd, anxiety, and depression I’ve been experiencing, sustainable housing as I have many bills that are past due as a result of the pandemic and recent protest/ police and white nationalist violence happening in center city Philadelphia where I currently stay (which has been extremely triggering for me, after finding out he's still preying on teenage activist), and resources to self actualize being that the trauma I’ve experienced caused me to leave school, and I’d like to go back to a different one.
