Replace Adam's Work Machine

Hi, I am Adam, and truth be told I hate doing this, but I feel like I have no option. Let me take a moment to explain a bit about who I am, and why this grey box with wires inside of it plays a big role in my life. First off I am a person with disability, Osteogenesis Imperfecta to be exact, but you will more that likely know it as the brittle bone disorder. Long story short I stopped counting broken bones before I turned a teenager and the number was in the high 80's. I am a college educated graphic designer with almost two decades of experience within print shops, marketing and charity organizations. The pandemic hit me particularly hard leaving me unemployed, displaced and a dealing with a lot of emotional truama. However, I used this opprotunity to try and build myself back better and stronger. I got sober, I connected and reconnected to communites that mean a lot to me and I started being of service to them in the only way I knew how. Me and this hand me down 2017 Macbook have clocked a lot of hours working on projects and chairing meetings over the last 3 years since it came into my life. We built the Canadian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Socieity brand, website (www.cois-scoi.ca) and social media presence. An ongoing project that is dear to my heart. More recently we built the Disability and Neurodiversity Alliance brand, website (www.dna-swo.ca) and social media project as well. I am ESPECIALLY proud of the Leaving Evidence Project part of the DNA website, where folks with disability and/or neurodivergence are able to fight back from having their stories erased or unheard because of their identies by freely sharing their life experiences. I also have been privileged to help set up my friends online stores up with it, so they can find more financial security. But more importantly I have been able to build up my own brand Hand Cut Company (www.handcutcompany.com) where I sell my own creations, and the creations of other folks with disability. With that I have also now published three Memoir Essays myself in hopes of not only bringing to light the struggles of a life with disability, but also sharing the lessons and knowledge I have picked up along the way. Something which is starting to be witnessed in the community as I have started to be asked to speak at local school board diversity events. So why am I asking for your help... well this old laptop has seen better days. It is road worn. First the keyboard started to get picky as to what letters wanted to work on different days. Then the screen just stopped working out of the blue. Being technologically inclided I was able to grab the right cables and adaptors to use a wireless keyboard while having it plugged into my living room TV. Sounds fun sure, but my neck is killing me these days. Not only that but the hard drive is now showing signs that it might be in the early stages of failing. Rather than waiting until I was completely left up the creek without a paddle, I decided to take this action. The amount of money I am asking for will cover a new Macbook, my work machine. It's the base model with some extra ram so I can more easily do video editing for the Canadian Osteogenesis Imperfecta Society, as well as some art projects I am working on. If miraculously my goal is met, and some extra is raised, I may look at a harddrive upgrade, but that would an extra super deluxe luxury. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out, and if you have read all the way down to this point, thank you for your time.

Peace, Love, & Understanding,
adam
