Replace Stolen California Historical Plaque #822
Tax deductible
The California Landmark Foundation is raising money to replace the California Historical Landmark plaque for The First Jewish Site in Los Angeles. The Hebrew Benevolent Society of Los Angeles, the first charitable organization in the city, acquired the site from the city council by deed of April 9, 1855. This purchase of a sacred burial ground represented the first organized community effort by the pioneer Jewish settlers.
In 1968, a Bronze plaque was placed and the site was registered California Historical Landmark #822. Sometime between 2020 and 2022 someone stole the plaque and damaged the marker.
Let’s bring dignity and respect back to California Historical Landmark #822 – The First Jewish Site in Los Angeles. 100% of your donations will go directly toward replacing the missing plaque, The California Landmark Foundation is ran entirely with volunteers.
Whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support. I've included information about California Landmark Foundation below.
