Replace Stolen Phoebe Hearst Garden Equipment
Donation protected
Dear friends, families, and generous hearts,
I write this message with a heavy heart but also with an unshakeable belief in the power of community. As many of you may know, I am a volunteer parent and one of the garden coordinators at Phoebe Hearst Elementary School. It's a labor of love very close to my heart, not least because two of my children have been nurtured and educated at Phoebe Hearst.
Our school garden has always been a beacon of joy, a practical classroom, a green oasis where our children have learned the importance of nature, nurtured seedlings into sprouting life, and shared many a laughter-filled cooking demonstration using produce they've grown with their own hands.
This morning, however, we woke up to some distressing news. All our garden tools were stolen overnight from our sheds on campus. Everything was gone, from the brooms, rakes, and hand trowels to our garden hoses, five wheelbarrows, and the cooking equipment we use for demonstrations. Our sheds, which once teemed with the tools of growth and learning, now stand hollow and empty.
Upon sharing this unfortunate news on social media earlier today, we were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our community. This has given us hope and strength, and we've decided not to let this incident overshadow our mission.
To help rebuild our garden and to reinstate the valuable hands-on learning our students had, we're setting up two avenues for contributions:
We're creating a Google form for those who wish to donate used equipment. We'll be happy to collect these from you. - LINK HERE: https://forms.gle/dpxxY2EaGfgtwKT3A
We've launched this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds that will help us replace our stolen equipment. We're kickstarting our campaign with a goal of $1,500. This will allow us to replace some of our tools, and if we're fortunate enough to surpass this goal, we'll be able to purchase even more of the resources our garden and students need.
Our garden has been an integral part of our children's educational journey, teaching them about nature and nutrition and responsibility, cooperation, and the joy of creation. Together, we can rebuild, regrow, and rejuvenate this crucial part of their learning.
We know that times are tough, but even the smallest donation can help plant a seed of hope. We thank you in advance for your support and promise to keep you updated on our progress. We can't wait to see our garden flourish once more, teeming with life and echoing with the joyful laughter of our students.
With heartfelt thanks,
Mr. Isaac
