Replace Waukesha South's Sousaphone

Donation protected
This fundraiser is presented on behalf of the University of Wisconsin Tubas, both alumni and current, and their families and friends who are working together to replace the sousaphone that was destroyed, but protected a student, in the Waukesha Holiday Parade.

My name is Mark Mueller, and I am a tuba player, an alumni of the Waukesha Schools (North, 1988) and the University of Wisconsin Band (1988-93). On behalf of the tuba players of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, whose members live all over the country, we are specifically fundraising to support the replacement of Waukesha South's ruined sousaphone. According to one of the band parents, the student playing the instrument was severly injured, but was protected by the instrument when they were struck. The picture, above, was taken by NBC15 reporter Colton Molesky, and is an eerie reminder of the carnage the victims experienced.

Tubas have a sisterhood and brotherhood that exists across all bands. We, the Wisconsin Tubas, want to honor the Waukesha South band by fundraising to cover these costs, which allows other fundraising efforts to focus on supporting ongoing student and family medical costs.

A typical sousaphone similar to the kind pictured is about $8,000. All funds raised will be used to replace this horn, or provide additional funds to replace other instruments damaged in the parade.
