JOIN the Friends of David Crockett Birthplace State Park in keeping history alive! We need your support to rebuild the replica David Crockett birthplace log cabin and the entire historic Crockett homestead!

The Friends of David Crockett Birthplace are currently raising money to replace the replica of David Crockett's birthplace log cabin, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us. The log shell of our cabin, built of repurposed logs to meet our specifications, is pictured on our GoFundMe page.

The Friends of David Crockett Birthplace State Park is a 501(c)3 non-profit, community-based charitable organization (CO51043) established in 2021 to support the park. Our mission is to preserve and protect the unique history and legacy of David Crockett Birthplace State Park, to provide care for the state park’s natural, cultural, and scenic areas, and to facilitate a wide variety of safe, quality experiences.

Located in Limestone, Tennessee on the banks of the Nolichucky River, David Crockett Birthplace State Park was completely devastated on September 26, 2024 by the flooding brought on by Hurricane Helene. The path to rebuilding our beloved park will be long. There has been an outpouring of good wishes and offers to help from the entire community!

A major initiative of the Friends of David Crockett Birthplace State Park has been to partner with the park to replace the current cabin with a new replica cabin that accurately reflects the log architecture commonly seen in East Tennessee during the Crockett era. The Friends of David Crockett Birthplace State Park has been working closely with the park, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, TN State Building Commission, historians, academics, craftsmen and other subject matter experts on a project to replace the Crockett homestead cabin. This project has taken on an even greater significance with the recent extensive flood damage to the park.

The Friends group's GoFundMe site was set up so that folks can donate specifically to the replacement Crockett homestead cabin.
The Friends group is now waiting for the park's rebuilding plan so that we can also help recreate an entire historic Crockett homestead!
The new replica birthplace cabin and other homestead structures will play a critical role in the park's recovery and the visitors experience as the park is completely rebuilt over the next few years.

Our love and admiration for David Crockett has not faltered, nor has our commitment to building a birthplace log cabin suitable to commemorate one of America's greatest folk heroes.

David Crockett Birthplace State Park is in Limestone, Tennessee, located near the site where Crockett was born on August 17, 1786. David Crockett is one of Americas' most recognizable folk heroes, born on the American frontier and gaining fame as a frontiersman, soldier, and politician, and finally reaching legend status when he died fighting for the Texas independence at the Battle of the Alamo. It can be said that David Crockett was the embodiment of the American spirit of adventure and rugged individualism.

The focal point of the park and the center of historic interpretation of life on the 1780's American frontier is a replica birthplace log cabin. Park interpretive staff meet daily with visitors at the cabin to bring history to life and give visitors a glimpse of what it may have been like to live in the days of David Crockett.
