Report public figures supporting war crime to ICC

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Fahima Mahomed and I'm a broadcaster and TV presenter.

Dear All,

With your help, we have achieved our goal. We were able to work with Cloud Law to submit a letter (as per the last update). We intend to transfer £4,000 to them; and use the remaining £7,962 to ICJP given their experience and ability to have a greater impact. Kindly share any thoughts on our plans with us by the end of the week.

Kind regards,

Fahima.

  • Background

The ongoing crisis in Gaza is a horrific humanitarian disaster, marked by undeniable evidence of widespread war crimes and crimes against humanity. Cutting off international aid, water, electricity, fuel, and forced displacement are all possible war crimes. These actions violate the Geneva Conventions and other international humanitarian law, which are designed to protect civilians and prisoners of war during armed conflict. Article 54 of the Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits the indiscriminate attack on civilians and the destruction of objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population. Article 55 of the same convention prohibits the collective punishment of civilians.

Adding to this tragedy is the UK and US Government's support for Israel, providing military, economic and political backing. We cannot denounce terrorism while backing state-sponsored terror and the collective punishment of over two million Gazans for the actions of a few. The value of an Israeli baby is the same as the value of a Palestinian baby.

  • Fundraising Objective
We aim to report public figures who are showing support for war crimes to the International Criminal Court (ICC). Our goal is not just legal action; it's about exposing and ensuring consequences for anyone showing support for potential war crimes. These include those who are complicit in international crimes in Gaza, including elected officials, journalists, and anyone endorsing acts that may constitute war crimes.

  • Target Individuals Include
1 - Keir Starmer - (LBC interview on 11 October) when the Labour leader was asked whether cutting off water and electricity supplies in the besieged region of Gaza was a proportionate response, he responded: "I think that Israel does have that right, it is an ongoing situation, obviously everything should be done within international law but I don't want to step away from the core principles that Israel has the right to defend herself."

2 - Emily Thornberry - (BBC interview on 11 October) Labour’s Shadow Attorney General Emily Thornberry refused to answer presenter Victoria Derbyshire when asked repeatedly whether the actions of the Israeli government in cutting off food, water and power to the Gaza Strip is against international law.

3 - Ben Shapiro (Twitter on 9 October) - responding to a post quoting from UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Palestine “We are horrified by what is happening and we call for a truce”, Shapiro said: “And they can f**k right off”. Shapiro is known for making similar remarks, most notably in a 2002 article titled “Enemy ‘civilian casualties’ ok by me,” - Shapiro wrote that he was “getting really sick of people who whine about ‘civilian casualties.’ Maybe I’m a hard-hearted guy, but when I see in the newspapers that civilians in Afghanistan or the West Bank were killed by American or Israeli troops, I don’t really care. In fact, I would rather that the good guys use the Air Force to kill the bad guys, even if that means some civilians get killed along the way. One American soldier is worth far more than an Afghan civilian.”

4 - Jordan Peterson (Twitter on 7 October) - tweeted his support of an impending Israeli massacre in Gaza. “Give ’em hell [Netanyahu],” Peterson had posted on X, cheering on the Israeli Prime Minister, while seemingly oblivious to the fact that Gaza had already been turned into hell by a 16-year Israeli siege. “Enough is enough,” Peterson added for good measure.

  • Legal Background
In the eyes of international law, individuals who lend support to international crimes can be held criminally accountable. This encompasses those who aid, abet, or facilitate the commission of such crimes, regardless of their direct involvement. The jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) extends to war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. The ICC can prosecute individuals from ICC member states as well as those from non-member states if the crime occurred on the territory of an ICC member state.

  • Fundraising Budget
We seek £10,000 to cover legal expenses to submit a well documented case to report each individual potentially complicit in war crimes to the ICC. It costs roughly £850 per person (depending on the amount of evidence to support the claim, such as social media posts, articles, or videos). We therefore aim to submit around 8-12 individuals as part of this campaign. All donations will exclusively support a UK law firm (details shared with donors once appointed) to ensure that the ICC reports are robust - to maximise the chance of the ICC investigating them, and further to document it for historical records. Any unused funds will be spent on raising public awareness against those potentially supporting war crimes.

We firmly believe in the necessity of holding those responsible for international crimes to account. An ICC report which may lead to investigation(s) and possible conviction(s) serve as a resounding message that impunity will not go unchallenged. Please contribute to our campaign and help us bring justice and solace to the victims of these heinous acts. We cannot, and must not, turn a blind eye to anyone, especially elected officials and public figures, being possibly complicit in war crimes.
