Meet Bimka
Bimka was living in the streets of Azerbaijan until The Good World Shelter found him. He had been severely beaten and left for dead. He had a dislocated jaw, a hematoma of the eye and a severe head injury. Thanks to the kind people at GWS he made a full recovery, physically, although you can still feel the indent on the top of his head. Emotionally, he was in shock and did not move or react to anyone at all for weeks. He was living with over 400 dogs at this shelter. He was depressed and anxious. That's when Zani's Furry Friends stepped in. They are a rescue group who raised the funds to fly Bimka to the U.S.

This is when I saw Bimka's story and I knew he was the one for our family. I was able to pick him up from JFK airport when he arrived In March 2020. He was obviously terrified, confused and in desperate need of a bath. He laid in his crate for the first few weeks, only stepping out to go to the bathroom on the pads we spread out for him. My hope that he would ever warm to us was shaken.
Original Facebook Post from the Day He Arrived
It was during the first week with us that we noticed some blood dripping from his penis. We quickly brought him to our vet who believed it was a hematoma resulting from his neuter surgery which had taken place just a few days prior to his flight. We were told it would go away on it's own. Over a month later, he was still dripping blood. We took him for a blood test to determine if he had a clotting disorder and was put on antibiotics. To our relief, the results came back negative however he was still bleeding. We had x-rays done which didn't give us any more information as to why he was bleeding. It did show he also had a BB gun pellet lodged into his side. Another form of abuse this poor pup had to endure. Finally, we had an ultrasound done. The results were not what we had expected. They found a tumor in his penis and it came with a poor prognosis. By this time, Bimka had already come so far. He was no longer spending his days in a crate, he walked around our home, allowed us to walk him without trying to runaway, although he would still jump at strange noises, and we'd even catch him chewing on an occasional toy. My heart sank, I couldn't imagine that after all Bimka suffered through that he wouldn't be able to live out his full life in a loving home.

We took him for a consultation with an oncologist. Each treatment will be $600 and he may need 5-10 weekly treatments. Any medications or additional visits/tests will be extra. This is after his $500 adoption fee and all of the tests we ran prior to this consulation. We are doing our best to pay for all of his needs, but we also have a young daughter, another dog and two cats.
Your donation will mean that we will never have to delay a treatment or make a choice that is not in his best interest. Bimka is only 3 years old and has his whole life ahead of him. Please help us give him the treatment he needs and deserves.
