Rescue the Old Kelsey School Community Center
Tax deductible
The Kelsey Community Association (KCA) was formed as a non-profit in 1958. Kelsey School was originally built in 1858 but, due to a fire, was rebuilt similar to the original in 1903. It functioned as a school up until the mid-1950s. So you can imagine the repairs, renovations and upgrades that Kelsey School has needed to go through over the last 120 years.
Well, the facility is at another urgent stage. There is rot around the window frames, and much of the siding must be replaced. The roof is leaking. The school needs painting inside and out, and new heating and cooling systems must be installed--the list goes on and on. At this point, the Old Kelsey Schoolhouse is in urgent need of repairs and renovations.
KCA has applied for and received several grants. It has received almost $25,000 in grants and it has recently received another $10,000 grant. One Grant has been used to replace the gutters around the building. Another Grant has been used recently to install new carpeting in the Dining Room and Parlor areas, and linoleum in the Kitchen. And we are so thankful for these grants--but only a few of the urgent repairs have been able to be completed.
Whatever you feel inspired to give to help renew the safety and usability of the Old Kelsey School would be greatly appreciated.
During this time, KCA continues to invite the Divide Community to a Gourmet Breakfast on the 1st Sunday of the month April thru November. And continues to make the school available to rent. For a nominal fee, community and private parties are able to rent the facility for social gatherings, meetings of Organizations, and various family occasions. More information and copies of rental forms and agreements are available on Kelsey School website.
KCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. All contributions are tax deductible. FED ID: 54-2183064.
