Rescued Mickey 52 years old

Everybody meet Mickey, a 52 year old Congo African Grey. Her momma had her her whole life. Her momma passed away recently and whoever was in charge of her things decided he was going to give her bird away and if no one wanted it he was going to shoot it.

The nice lady who owns the feed store in Port Arthur wasn’t going to let that happen so she took her. It was meant to be that I happened to go there today. She came home with me.

Her feet are terribly deformed and she has a large growth under her bottom beak. It looks like she may also be blind in one eye. She is so sweet, she just wanted to stay in my arms forever. She was chowing down on some banana, apples, grapes and walnuts.

She has lived a long life and I wish she could tell me all about it. I’m so blessed to be able to give her the best life possible for however long she will be with us.

Last week she went to see Dr. Stephen Fronfield at ABC Animal and Bird Clinic in Sugarland. She had all her blood work done and is good to have surgery tomorrow to remove the tumor. We are praying that it is non malignant.
